THE FELLOW WHO KNOWS HOW TO WALTZ

Words and music copyright ©1984 by Howard Ashby Kranz

I went to the square dance yesternight;

I was having a good time; I was doing all right

I was really getting into the swing

when the caller said a waltz he would sing.

Now I dance quite well in a square.

When my partner is called home, she’s usually there.

But she never is looking for me

when they strike up that old one-two-three.

The fellow who knows how to waltz,

otherwise he may have many faults.

When they’re playing that song, her heart will belong

to the fellow who knows how to waltz.

Now I’m sure that I could learn that step,

but I know that I’ll never be truly adept.

There are some times that I cannot bear!

There’s some times when life just isn’t fair.

The fellow who knows how to waltz,

otherwise he may have many faults.

When they’re playing that song, her heart will belong

to the fellow who knows how to waltz.
